Zurbau and colleagues evaluated 14 systematic reviews and meta-analyses and updated the randomized-trial dose-response evidence. LDL-C reductions were consistently observed across the reviews.

The full picture

Good science includes the details, too.

Plant sterols have been studied over both short and longer periods. A one-year randomized placebo-controlled study found no difference in adverse-event reporting between groups. A separate meta-analysis found modest reductions in some carotenoids, while vitamin D and retinol were not significantly affected. A varied diet rich in fruit and vegetables remains sensible.

Are these clinical studies of Lester?

The research on this page evaluates plant sterols, plant stanols and plant-sterol delivery formats. Unless explicitly identified as a Lester study, it did not evaluate the finished Lester gummy.

How much human research exists?

A landmark 2014 dose-response meta-analysis included 124 human studies and 201 study arms. Our curated library separately links 91 publications spanning randomized trials, meta-analyses, dose, delivery, timing and safety.

Have supplement formats been studied?

Yes. The library includes a systematic review and meta-analysis of capsule and tablet studies, plus individual supplement-format trials. This does not mean the finished Lester gummy has been clinically tested.

Why take plant sterols with food?

Their primary action occurs in the intestine during digestion. Human studies and reviews support taking them with main meals.

Does lowering LDL-C prove Lester prevents heart attacks or strokes?

No. The research here primarily evaluates LDL-C and related biomarkers. It is not a finished-product cardiovascular-outcomes trial.
